Getting Started with ChapterWise

Welcome to ChapterWise! This guide will walk you through uploading your first manuscript and running your first analysis. In just a few minutes, you'll see the power of AI-driven literary analysis.

Your First Analysis

Let's start with a quick example using a classic text. We'll analyze a passage from the Iliad to show you how ChapterWise works.

Step 1: Upload Your Manuscript

  1. Navigate to your Dashboard: From the main app, click "Upload Manuscript"
  2. Choose your file: ChapterWise supports multiple formats:
  3. HTML: Perfect for web-based texts from Project Gutenberg
  4. PDF: For published books and academic papers
  5. Plain Text: Simple .txt files work great
  6. Markdown: Ideal for modern academic translations
  7. RTF/Word: Rich text with formatting

  8. Upload example: Try uploading a short story or chapter (1,000-5,000 words works well for your first test)

Step 2: Chapter Detection

ChapterWise automatically detects chapters in your manuscript:

  • Auto-detection: Recognizes headers like "Chapter 1", "Book I", "Section A"
  • Manual adjustment: You can merge, split, or rename chapters as needed
  • Preview: See exactly how your text will be divided before analysis

Example Detection Results:

Manuscript: "The Iliad - Book 1"
- Detected: 1 chapter
- Word count: 4,250 words
